Ellen’s Tips for Sensitive Skin

• Sensitive skin can either start when you are young or as the skin ages.  Certain skin sensitivities are chronic (ongoing) and require a lifetime of care.  As we age, the skin becomes thinner, bruises easier, and, is more sensitive to environmental assaults including the sun, environmental pollutants, medications and hormones.
• Treating this “hyper active” skin requires awareness, gentle cleansing agents, regular sun protection and minimizing over-exfoliation.  This skin type also needs more frequent use of super hydrating serums and gels, followed by nourishing lipids that help retain the moisture and restore balance.
• If you are Sensitive/Dry, add it is even more critical to add the Redness Relief Serum before applying moisturizer.  If you are Sensitive/Oily, incorporate the Sensitive Skin Enzyme Mask several times per week to gentle add clay and digestive enzymes to help reduce the oil, without over stimulating the skin.
• Begin introducing new products slowly if you are sensitive.  Start by applying new products to a certain area of the face first, or begin using one of the new products for a day or two and then add the next product or two, to make sure it agrees with your skin and does not over stimulate or irritate.  Sometimes it just takes a little while for sensitive skin to adapt to a new product or skin care system.
